Four Ways to Drink Lavender

Nothing screams spring time to me like Lavender. It is a recent love affair we have shared, but one I think will last a life time. My four ways are:

Lemonade

Coffee

Tea

Chai Latte

When I used to work in a coffee shop I would experiment and mix drinks any chance I got. Something I would always make is an iced coffee with vanilla and lavender!

The first step in this is to make the lavender simple syrup:

Ingredients:

1. 2 1/2 tsp of dried culinary lavender

2. 1 1/2 cup of water

3. 1 cup of white sugar

4. 1/2 cup of brown sugar

You don’t have to use brown sugar, for a more clear syrup just use all white and for a lavender color add a few drops of purple food coloring!

Directions:

In a medium saucepan bring water and lavender to a boil

Add sugar and stir to dissolve.

Let sit for twenty minutes.

First Drink: Lemonade

Make lemonade with water, sugar, and lemon juice. Add in lavender syrup. Measure syrup and sugar for your desired sweetness.

Second Drink: Iced Tea

I enjoy sweet tea vs unsweet, but you can do either!

Add in lavender syrup to your iced tea or even a hot cup of tea and enjoy!

Maybe even try an Arnold Palmer!

Third Drink: Chai Latte

Make chai tea according to directions. Either heat up or if you have a way to froth your milk do that!

I am fortunate enough to have a coffee machine with a milk frother( is that the correct word?) On the side(wedding gift) but you certainly don’t have to!

Add in your syrup once done!

Fourth Drink: Lavender Iced Coffee

You can totally make hot coffee too! A lot of times I will make a cold Brew in the French Press. Just make a French press like normal, but use cold water. Let sit for 24 hours then press it down!

My coffee machine also makes iced drinks( I know boujie)

But if yours doesn’t I would use the French Press method for best results!

First add in the syrup and then Add in your creamer, milk, or whatever you use.
